PLC Based Product Sorting Machine



Sorting systems are used to bridge between production and packaging machinery. Sorting systems are used to sort items based on various criteria so that they can be packaged accordingly. Manual sorting is a time and effort intensive process. Automatic sorting systems allow for fast and efficient sorting of products. To demonstrate the sorting system we develop a PLC based sorting system project that uses pistons with color sensing system powered by PLC control to achieve this functionality. The system consists of a conveyor belt to carry products from one end to collection baskets. It consists a color sensor to sense the type of products using color sense, the system now utilizes 3 pistons with piping and control valves to control their operations. The system is powered by a PLC to control the sorting system. 3 collection baskets are used to collect samples sorted by the pistons mounted parallel to each one. The PLC coordinates with sensors and piston valves in order to achieve the desired functionality and demonstrate the fully automated product sorting system.

Pneumatic Powered Water Pump


Pneumatic Powered Water Pump:

Water is a basic human necessity and ground water is one of the major sources of it. But pulling out ground water requires a lot of power which is not available everywhere. The most common water suction pump widely used is a manual pump that has a handle which is to be moved in up and down direction in order to suck ground water up and make it available on the surface. So we automate this process using a pneumatic system that does this automatically. Our system uses a pneumatic cylinder along with supporting frame, a manual suction based pump, pipes valves and electronic circuit to control the system. The pneumatic cylinder is connected to the pump using a handle like mechanism that allows for movement of pump head along with the piston movement. We now operate the pneumatic cylinder using a push button that indicates the circuitry to operate the valves which connect the cylinder to a compressor to operate the cylinder and achieve the desired movement. The system now operated the pump head along with the piston movement so as to achieve fully automated water pump using pneumatic power.

In small-scale industries and automobile maintenance shops, there are frequent needs of tightening and loosening in screws, grinding, boring, grinding machine. Huge and complicated designed parts cannot be machined in ordinary machine. Further for every operation separate machine is required. The increases the initial cost required, large area requirements and large number of machine are required. In a single machine all the above specified operation can be carried out, i.e., after grinding, the drill head is removed from the barrel key and the required tools like grinding wheels, boring tool etc., can be attached, and the operation can be performed. By the application of pneumatic, the pneumatic cylinder with piston which is operated by an air compressor will give the successive action to operate this machine. By this we can achieve our industrial requirements.
The main objective of our project is to perform various machining operations using “Auto feed mechanism” in grinding machine with the help of pneumatic sources. For a developing industry the operation performed and the parts (or) components produced should have it minimum possible production cost, then only industry runs profitability. Mechanization is broadly defined as the replacement of manual effort by mechanical power. Pneumatic is an attractive medium for low cost mechanization particularly for sequential (or) repetitive operations. Many factories and plants already have a compressed air system, which is capable of providing the power (or) energy requirements and the control system (although equally pneumatic control systems may be economic and can be advantageously applied to other forms of power).
The main advantage of an all pneumatic system are usually economic and simplicity the latter reducing maintenance to a low level. It can also have out standing advantages in terms of safety.

The compressed air from the compressor is used as the force medium for this operation. The pneumatic double acting cylinder used .The air from the compressor enters to the four way junction. From four way junctions one way of air enters to the barrel unit. In side the barrel having vane arrangement is welled. The other way of air enters to the solenoid valve.
The function of solenoid valves all of air correct time interval. From solenoid valve air enters to the pneumatic double acting cylinder through flow control valve. The solenoid valve ON condition, the grinding head is automatically downwards and grinding operation occurs. After some time, the solenoid valve is OFF; the grinding head is automatically released.

Remote Controlled Forklift


Here we propose the design and fabrication of a remote controlled mini forklifter . The mini forklifter defines the concepts of using forklifts for weights lifting as well as placement using pulley based mechanism. Our system allows for efficient implementation of this concept. The mini forklift uses pulley and belt arrangement In order to lift loads. It is connected to a powerful 12V motor in order to lift weights and also consists of a counter weight in the back to maintain proper balance while lifting weights. The lifting mechanism is attached onto a 4 wheel drive frame chassis strong to support the frame as well as counterweight. It consists of 4 motors needed to control vehicle movement in all 4 directions. The system uses 2 supporting rods with bearing setup in order to achieve smooth vertical movement of the forklift. Also we use 4 motor drive in order to drive the forklift with efficient strength. We now use an Rf based circuit system in order to run the mini forklift from a distance by receiving wireless control commands by rf remote.
